OUR VISION
As Hardinge completes its hundredth year, we feel that students, as members of the medical fraternity, should make some contribution to the society. Being future leaders in healthcare, it is their duty to lead by example. With this is mind, we conduct an Eye Donation Day in Lady Hardinge Medical College in the last week of August. We are a group of students from the 7th and 9th semesters, who want to take the initiative to increase awareness and encourage our colleagues, seniors, post graduates and faculty towards donating their eyes.
We have noticed hesitancy and stigma regarding this issue not just in the general population but even in the members of the medical fraternity despite their awareness.
Keeping these things in mind, we start a campaign “Drishti—Jyoti Jeevan Ki” in collaboration with the Department of Ophthalmology, the Department of Community Medicine and the non-governmental organization SightLife, as a part of the centenary year celebrations and the eye donation fortnight. We wish to sensitize and encourage medical students to pledge their eyes and also educate them about organ donation.
